Dr. Rajiha bint Abdulamir bin Ali, Minister of Tourism and the presence of HE Maqbool Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry, HE Mrs. Angelika Renate Storz-Chakarji and further high rank delegations from government and private sector.
The new constructed factory with an investment of around 5 Million Omani Rial was established by a joint venture of the European leading pole producer Europoles and RAY International L.L.C., a leading engineering consulting company for Oil & Gas and Power Distribution. Europoles Middle East, with a total capacity of 40,000 poles, which should replace the wooden poles that are currently used in Oman.
Europoles has delivered poles from Germany and with its new local production, Europoles will be able to offer Oman reliable and cost-effective domestically produced overhead-transmission poles, instead of costly imports from abroad. Additionally the products will be exported to other countries in the GCC region.
To achieve the high quality standards of the EuropolesGroup, the core workers team was trained in Germany. Europoles Middle East is committed to the Omanisation policy, the high training investments were spent to qualify a young Omani team to cover leading positions like foremen, shift leader and logistic manager in the plant management.
Mr. Fritz Fueckert (CEO of Europoles) pointed out in his speech the compliance of the German and Omani company values and the good partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and Germany. As he explained that the training of workers in Germany and the local support by German trainers was the main key to put the project into reality.
The overall Omanisation rate is already established at 45%. The factory was certified by the German TUV Rheinland (LGA Intercert) according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and audited and approved by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
Despite of the training and employment of Omani staff, the factory is also focussed on using local materials. The main resources like sand, aggregates and cement are from local sources, some of them also located in Nizwa.
