Production of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic poles and masts
Fibreglass mats are first cut to the proper lengths and firmly wrapped around a metal mandrel core. High-tensile fibreglass reinforcement is then placed into the chrome-plated steel form.
The next step involves the centrifuging process. Powerful centrifugal forces in this process cause the reinforcement material (fibreglass mats) to be impregnated by the matrix material (pre-coloured polyester resin), and to be compressed. The result is a smooth pole or mast surface and extremely high pole strength.
After hardening is complete, the poles or masts are removed from the centrifugal forms and exactly cut off to the proper lengths. In the final step, the glass-fibre-reinforced plastic poles are fitted with the required accessory parts, and are painted according to the customer’s specifications.
